It's still running, and it decides your hires, your prices and your hardest conversations, whatever your strategy says.

I have spent almost thirty years reading people for a living. Statutory justice work, child protection, criminal justice, addiction and trauma. Rooms where people were actively concealing, and where a misread had consequences.
Founders aren’t harder to read than that. They’re simply better resourced, and more practised at being the most self-aware person in the room. That self-awareness is usually the camouflage. You can diagnose everyone around you, which is exactly how your own pattern has survived this long.
Nobody can see the lens they’re looking through, not even you. This is why experienced private partnerships are essential for people like you, because you can’t read the label from the inside, and if you continue to, the pattern will go on being the pattern.
Two things my clients say that nobody else can promise. The first: I will find the pattern. The thing running your decisions from underneath and name it usually within the first session. The second: you won’t be able to leave the room. I notice the move you make when it gets close. I hold the line. And I follow up between sessions, so the thing you almost said gets said. Your history has been hiring good mentors and disappearing on them, because ultimately you’re the boss with nobody holding you accountable. That doesn’t work here.
Most of my work is invisible by design. I sign NDAs. I ask permission before sharing anything, and most of it I never share. Three decades of my working life were bound by statutory confidentiality, and I hold the same standard now. Nothing you say in the room will be the worst thing I’ve heard. What happens in the room stays in it.
